Global Wave Conference

Leading enviro-surf charities and NGOs from around the globe unite!

The Global Wave Conference brings together leading campaigners, scientists, oceanographers; experts in wave physics, coastal morphology, wave-energy generation, coastal law and economics; coastal planners and coastal engineers to share ideas, discuss legislation and compare the best ways of protecting global surf spots. The event is now biennial, helping connect wave protection movements and organisations from around the globe to discuss the issues facing our oceans, waves, beaches and communities, and share current campaign approaches and effective campaigns. In 2011 the conference was held in Biarritz and San Sebastien, and in 2013 it was held in Baja, Mexico.

In October 2015, Surfers Against Sewage hosted the 4th Global Wave Conference, bringing together the world’s leading enviro-surf NGO’s, academics, activists, politicians, surf industry representatives and coastal communities to promote the global importance of protecting waves, oceans and beaches – and not just for surfers. We want to protect healthy coastal ecosystems for everyone. The conference took place at the Bedruthan Steps Hotel, Cornwall and at the Palace of Westminster, London (as part of the Protect Our Waves All Party Parliamentary Group) from 11th – 14th October 2015. Enjoy the conference talks and learn more about the global wave movement here.

The Global Wave Coalition is made up of the leading enviro-surf charities and NGOs from around the globe including Surfers Against Sewage, the Surfrider Foundation, Save the Waves, WildCoast and Sustainable Surf.  The next Global Wave Conference is due to held in Santa Cruz in 2018.
