Submit a sickness report

Sick from sewage? We’re all ears.

From Shetland to Scilly, water lovers across the UK are getting sick from sewage. So we’re collecting thousands of sickness reports to provide the evidence we need to demand water companies clean up their act.

Want to tell your story? Fill in the form below or submit a report directly through the Safer Seas & Rivers Service. The information you give us will be used in our sickness report analysis, but the details will not be published without your permission.

Help us build the evidence on water pollution and public health

Every year, thousands of people tell us they’ve become ill after using the UK’s rivers, lakes and seas. Yet there is still no national system for recording illnesses linked to water pollution.

By completing this form, you’re helping to address a crucial evidence gap. The information you provide supports our work with researchers, clinicians, and public health experts to better understand the health impacts of polluted water, strengthen the evidence base, and inform future campaigning and policy.

This form takes around 5 minutes to complete. We’re so sorry you’ve been unwell, and we really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Every report helps build a clearer picture of the impact of water pollution on people’s health.

Don’t know how sewage makes us sick? We’ll tell you how!

Please ensure you read our privacy policy before providing any personal details to understand how your information will be used and protected.
