SAS scientific reports
Surfers Against Sewage bases all its campaigns in the latest scientific facts and most up-to-date information available. We produce regular scientific reports covering the range of environmental issues our remit covers, from marine litter to coastal developments. We have also produced a ground-breaking economic study into the value of surfing nationally and regionally for the UK. These in depth studies are vital tools to help our members and supporters better understand the issues, and are essential campaigning documents to help us influence developers, industry and Government.
We have produced the following reports which are free to download via this website. Visit the Scientific Reports page for all the download links…
The SAS educational programme focuses on current campaign areas from climate change and marine litter through to the protection of the recreational wave resource. The new Seas For Life education programme covers SAS’s latest campaigns on water quality, marine litter, climate change, toxic chemicals, shipping and coastal wave protection. It also addresses the concept of citizenship and how students can have a positive impact on the marine environment to contribute to safeguarding fisheries, oceans, waves and beaches, and other coastal assets. Our educational sessions for schools, universities, community groups and at outside events also provide tangible actions for the audience to take to help tackle marine pollution in their daily lives.
The key National Curriculum learning outcomes that the Seas For Life SAS Sustainable Coastal Communities educational programme covers are:
- Humans and other animals.
- Living things and their environment.
Citizenship and PSHE:
- Developing a healthy, safer lifestyle.
- Preparing to play an active role as citizens.
