Duke of Edinburgh

Meaning you can register your DofE volunteering through us, receive our free equipment, and conduct cleans in your own time. Any young person between the ages of 14-24 can do their DofE – regardless of ability, gender, background or location.

To record your volunteering for DofE through us simply register a clean here. Once your period of volunteering is complete, so that we can sign you off, please send photographic evidence of each clean along with your participant ID number to – beachcleans@sas.org.uk.

SAS Work Experience

We are currently reviewing and updating our work experience programme. This will be aimed at students still in education looking for a week spent in a working environment. The focus of this will be to give the student an idea of how the charity functions as a whole with time divided between each department;

  • Fundraising
  • Education
  • Campaigns
  • Community

Have some free time?

Whether you can spare a few hours every week or just the one off hour, we could still use your help! As a busy office with so many projects on the go we have a range of logistical work we need assistance with.

From packing Beach Clean Kits to entering petition data, each job is vital and supports the greater work we do here. If you’re interested to help out please contact us at beachcleans@sas.org.uk.

Our Stories

My time at Surfers Against Sewage was short but the opportunity provided a significant insight into the incredible impact that the charity makes towards protecting our UK Coastlines, but also how much time, work and energy are required to make a positive environmental change between communities, industry and government. I was given the fortunate experience of working closely with Ellie and Dom in finalising the design and trialing the delivery of their brand new Ocean School programme, introducing some of my ideas and motivations around experiential outdoor learning.
