Rob Jackson
Glasgow - Scotland Rep
Although I grew up in a large city, my parents actively encouraged a healthy appreciation of the coast and countryside, regularly venturing on family canoe trips or Munro bagging Sundays.
This love of the outdoors has steered my career choices throughout my life, firstly taking up the role of outdoor instructor at a costal outdoor centre and latterly, as a marine officer onboard a workboat. These positions allowed me to witness the pollution within our costal waters first hand, prompting my recent leap back into academia where I’m now studying for a BSc in wildlife and conservation management.
In what spare time I have, I try to instil the same passion for the outdoors within my own kids. We can be found surfing, paddle boarding, rock climbing or simply exploring some rock-pools.
As an SAS regional rep, I hope to spark the same appreciation for all things watery within my community, educating on the problems our seas face and helping to empower people to make a difference.
