Barry Craig
Downpatrick - Northern Ireland Rep
I am very passionate about the environment and I am lucky enough to live a few mile from a plethora of beautiful beaches dotted along the County Down coastline where “the mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea” where I enjoy daily dogs walks and open water swimming. During these activities I am reminded on every occasion of the importance of our seas and the beautiful habits which it supports along with damage caused by the human population.
As a very much amateur surfer and volunteer for the Wave Project NI, I have witnessed how the beach, seas and coastlines bring so much more to us than a picturesque setting. The magic of vitamin sea, is a huge asset and can bring so much benefit to our wellbeing, connecting us all so we all need to protect and improve our shores.
I work as a Landscape Architect within an Environment and Sustainability business unit where there is a daily focus and professional guidance on how we as professionals can protect preserve and enhance the natural and built environment.
As a SAS Rep I aim to utilise my role within a large consultancy to help educate and establish new plastic free offices across the UK, facilitating and encouraging my colleagues for a modal change in working practices from project conception/design to construction to help aid and prevent further damage to our seas.
