The 2.6 Challenge is here!

We’re inviting you, your family and friends to take part in The 2.6 Challenge from Sunday 26 April!

What is the 2.6 Challenge?

The 2.6 Challenge will launch on Sunday 26 April – what should have been the date of the 40th London Marathon, the world’s biggest one-day annual fundraising event. We are asking you to choose an activity of your choice based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 and fundraise or donate to support SAS via this link. The ideas and options are endless, from walking, running or cycling 2.6 miles, juggling for 2.6 minutes, to holding online workouts with 26 friends.

Why 2.6?

The number 2.6/26 represents the length that thousands of people would have run on Sunday 26th April for the London Marathon.

The only requirement is that you must follow Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing.

What is The 2.6 Challenge?

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a devastating effect on charities, with the cancellation of thousands of events and in response to this, the organisers of the biggest mass-participation sports events across the country have come together to create a new campaign to raise vital funds.

What can I do in aid of SAS?

You can do anything and everything providing it is linked to the numbers 2.6 or 26.  This could be time, repetition or distance…. you decide!

Here’s a few of our ideas to get you started:

  1. Run For Your Ocean – this could be 2.6 miles or 26 miles over the course of a week.
  2. Spend 2.6 hours in the paddling pool or your bath.
  3. Balance on your surfboard / bodyboard for 2.6 minutes in your paddling pool (with fins removed!)
  4. Run 26 laps of your garden with your surfboard
  5. Bake 26 blue cupcakes.

Five steps to 2.6 success!

  1. Dream up your 2.6 challenge.
  2. Head to Just Giving to donate £26 – or whatever you can afford to SAS or set up your  fundraising page.
  3. Ask all your friends and family to sponsor you and challenge them to do their own 2.6 Challenge.
  4. Complete your challenge.
  5. Share a photo or video of your challenge on social media with #TwoPointSixChallenge.

We cannot wait to hear from you and  all about your 2.6 Challenge!

Whether you’re running around your home for 2.6 miles, doing 26 press-ups with your dog on your back, skipping for 2.6 minutes with your children, or something else just as imaginative – we’re delighted you have chosen to support SAS!
