The Crown Estate have been supporting our Autumn Beach Clean Series for a number of years, this has helped us to grown our beach clean programme into one of the biggest in Europe.
The Crown Estate is currently providing funds for a national programme of beach cleans, which follows on from a pilot beach clean series in North Devon. In supporting these initiatives our aim is to assist efforts to reduce the amount of litter accumulating in the marine environment, whilst highlighting the issue of marine litter and promoting the link between coastal environmental protection and the sports & people that rely on a clean coastal environment.
We are extremely impressed with how well both initiatives have been organised and promoted to date, and with the approach taken by SAS in working with communities to highlight this important marine issue. It is important for us to work with organisations to develop projects wherever possible and SAS have been very responsive in understanding our organisation and the requirements of our statutory remit. The team has been a pleasure to work with and we are pleased to continue our association with the programme. Fiona Wynne – Stewardship Manager, The Crown Estate
