SAS x Otter Limited Edition Belly Board
Rediscover the delights of what’s on offer waist-deep in the whitewater, and ride waves the traditional way on a classic British bellyboard, or grab a pair of swim fins and swim out back to catch some bigger, unbroken waves.
The guys at Otter have used poplar for these bellyboards and handplanes, which is the timber normally used for the rail strips on their surfboards and is grown and harvested near Salisbury. The dark wood in this batch of five is the Royal oak collected from Highgrove which was used to make the board presented to HRH The Prince of Wales on our Ocean Plastic Solutions Day in 2018, and this is the last of it!
Our friends at Otter make their own plywood, laying up thin veneers to give just the right amount of flex, and laminate them over a tried and tested mould to give the perfect amount of lift in the nose so that you won’t catch it and pearl. The rails are rounded at the nose, transitioning into a hard “down rail” through the back half of the board to increase lift and responsiveness on unbroken wave faces.
These bellyboards are engraved with the SAS and Otter logos, and finished with several coats of tung oil, which is a 100% natural nut oil.
These are a very special, limited run of five so you’ll have to be fast if you want to get your hands on one of these!
