Growing up in a Cotswold village, my sister and I would jump at the chance of going on family trips to the coast at every opportunity. Be it rockpooling, building sand boats, scuba diving or attempting to surf, I have always felt a connection to nature when spending time by the sea.
It’s now a huge privilege to have the opportunity to work with such a talented and passionate team at SAS, on some very exciting and crucially important projects. The convenience of our throwaway culture has fuelled the rise of single-use plastics, often used for only minutes but made from materials that are designed to last forever. The impact of plastic waste is increasingly featuring on the global agenda and I feel particularly strongly about the effect this is having on our beaches and oceans, which are such vital aspects of the environment.
Robust financial management is an integral part of ensuring the success and sustainability of a charity and I really enjoy using my love for numbers to support an organisation that is tackling issues that I care so much about.
