I first got involved with Surfers Against Sewage as an office volunteer in 2016. Disillusioned with my IT career, I wanted to spend my time doing something more meaningful with my life. I am now so proud to be part of Team SAS, assisting in its growth and being part of all the great work they do.
My role is part-time which enables me to be available for my three wonderful pre-teen children who, like me, are environmentally aware and love getting involved with SAS’s campaigns and projects. Living in Cornwall, we tend to spend many of our weekends partaking in beach cleans and they have embraced our family passion by organising beach cleans for friends, family and clubs they attend and we even did a presentation for their Cub and Scout pack. They are currently working on attaining an SAS Plastic Free Schools accreditation in the primary and senior schools they attend.
As a part-time artist, my love of the seas inspire creativity in me and my paintings, drawings and artwork always seem to be ocean-fed. I’m a real beach enthusiast, whether that be larking around with my children, beach cleaning, balancing rocks, meditating, painting, sketching, hanging out with friends or generally just soaking up the sunshine, smelling the ocean breeze, and being on the sand with a decaf latte. There’s nowhere I would rather be and nothing upsets me more than seeing these beautiful places covered with litter.
