Jack Middleton
Community and Events Manager
Born and raised in Cornwall, I have lived near the beautiful north Cornish coast for most of my life. A brief interlude to the brown waters of the Severn Estuary to study a BSc in Marine Geography at Cardiff University and I was home, straight into a 4-month internship with Surfers Against Sewage that, in December 2013, became a full time job. I am now the Community Manager here at SAS which means I get to work with our amazing network of Regional Reps and our incredible community of volunteers through beach cleans, events and festivals.
During the summers I spend more time out of the office at events and running beach cleans than I do inside it, although with the view over Trevaunance Cove I have from my desk it isn’t hard coming back!
I am a competitive swimmer and sponsored bodysurfer and spend as much time in the sea as I can either surfing, bodysurfing, swimming or surf lifesaving – I am one of the coaches at Watergate Bay Surf Life Saving Club. With all this time spent in the sea and living among the myriad beaches Newquay has to offer,
I know first-hand the effect humanity is having on our beautiful coastlines but am now in the position to educate others, raise awareness and help find solutions.
