I grew up in Cornwall, and have lived here all my life, so the beach has always been important for me, from a place to go and meet friends as a teenager, to my favourite place to walk the dog now.
This is why I protect what I love. The fact that I have the naughtiest dog in the world (Toby), who’ll eat any rubbish he finds, is a good incentive to work for plastic free beaches too!
We always find ourselves picking up litter when we’re out walking, probably the most annoying thing is fishing rope, as it gets wrapped round rocks, half buried and is generally just really difficult to remove. But the most interesting piece of litter I’ve ever found was a piece of a car, wedged under rocks at Trevaunance Cove!
In my spare time I like to go running (sometimes with Toby when I’m feeling energetic!) and a few years ago, before I joined SAS, I ran the Tuff Enuff mud race to fundraise for SAS. I’ve never been so muddy in my life, but it was great fun.
