I’ve lived in Brighton & Hove for over ten years, firstly as part of the local surf community, then as an active force for change to tackle local waste & environmental issues. I had been working on the ground with SAS & other organisations in Brighton & Hove for a long time, helping to organise cleans & creating awareness of local waste issues, especially teh impact on our city beaches from such a large footfall we have. It made sense to come on board officially as a rep, and am delighted to do so.
I run a local Digital Marketing Agency Creative Bloom that specialises in helping the good guys get found, in that I mean we focus on helping green & ethical businesses with getting their message out there. We were delighted to help use our marketing skills to good effect here, working alongside the other SAS local reps to amplify and promote the local cleans we were all doing, and over time it’s gone from a single clean of 10 people working out of the back of Nikol’s car to now running up to 10-15 orchestrated cleans across the city area, with 100s of people attending and 100’s of kg of waste taken off the beaches. I’d be really happy to pass on any advice to any regional reps looking for any help on how to give their cleans a bit of a boost if they need it.
I’m a local surfer, often found surfing my secret spot where I live (when it’s on) – shhhh can’t tell you where it is though.
