During my studies in marine and freshwater biology at Aberystwyth University, I was lucky to have the opportunity to live by the sea and learn about the threats aquatic animals and habitats are facing. I am currently completing my research masters in marine ecology and hope to continue my research to help conserve marine environments. I spend most of my spare time at the beach, usually searching through the rockpools or stand up paddleboarding and have become increasing aware of the plastic pollution on my local beaches.
This inspired me to join events set up by my local reps for surfers against sewage and I have now been taking part in beach cleans and plastic free campaigns for several years. I am excited to be a regional rep and organise my own events to encourage more people in my community to get involved in protecting our coastlines.
