Owen Waters
Bangor - Northern Ireland Rep
As a life spent in the water and a journey across several sports and oceans the message and understanding we have about our planet has changed with it. With my career on and off the water I have been fortunate to have enjoyed many of the worlds greatest oceans and sailed, surfed, paddled alongside some of the worlds best. At whatever level or discipline as a waterman or woman the message is the same, the attitude you take to the water will affect its environment and that will in turn affect you individually.
I have developed Marine Awareness projects and publications and been involved in National Parks Trust and it’s an honour for me to be involved with Surfers Against Sewage. Hopefully some of the compromises and footprints we have left in our oceans to develop technology and our modern style or living can be used to curb our future and literally protect what you love. I frequent Ireland’s north east coast and am often paddle training out of Ballyholme bay these days when not surfing northern and western shores and further afield. In working with the rest of the Team at SAS and with you we hope to make a difference and change today before it is too late.
Please support and take action wherever you can, it should feel good to protect our environment not just as surfers but as responsible human beings.
