Being near, in or on the sea brings me so much joy, it brings peace and helps me deal with the stresses of being a busy working mum of two girls. As a child I spent most of my summers swimming or body boarding and later on I tried to surf, tried being the operative word! Most recently I have fallen in love with paddle boarding, it is an exercise that I can do pain free after suffering mobility issues in my second pregnancy. I can be found out on the water most evenings in the week, weather permitting and when it is too windy to paddle I beach clean.
I have always had a keen interest in environmental matters, however it wasn’t until I became a mother that I felt the need to physically do something about the environmental crisis that we face. It is so important to me to play an active part in the fight for change to ensure that my girls have a future. It is said that we are merely custodians of the planet for the next generation, and I refuse to hand it to my children in a worse state that when I inherited it. I am honoured to be a Regional Rep and join a team of such dedicated individuals and promote the work of Surfer Against Sewage.
