I have always been passionate about the environment. Whilst working on boats in Australia I saw first hand the effects of climate change on the bleached coral reefs. I’ve never lived further than a couple of minutes away from the sea and I spend as much time as possible on the beach and the ocean, whether it’s walking and looking at shells with my daughter, swimming, or relaxing after a long day. I feel a spiritual connection to the ocean and often go to the beach to clear my mind. Sea, sand and sunshine fill my soul with joy, so being able to spend even more time on the beach is a dream come true!
Since becoming a mother I am passionate about educating the next generation on the beauty and fragility of the ocean. I have worked on Art and community projects to raise young people’s awareness of the problems our planet faces in the current climate. I live in an area of outstanding natural beauty and this means that the area attracts a lot of tourists. I believe it is all of our responsibility to take care of the ocean and the creatures within it. I am keen to start a plastic free community in this area.
I am looking forward to working with my fellow regional representative Laura Sanderson to make this area a plastic free community.
