The sea petrified me when I was a little boy and I recall thinking I’m never going back in there. Perhaps I was already developing a healthy respect for the ocean, but likely I was just terrified of the vast waters in front of me, and the alien looking jelly fish lurking ever more closely towards my toes. Thankfully my desire to explore its beauty quickly changed as I grew up.
My education and early life experiences were embedded in Sport Science and as a teacher spending my time between the UK/USA. My passion for sport shifted from the conventional to every water sport imaginable – hence my passion for the ocean.
The last decade I have been in the RAF and fortunate to travel the world and have some amazing experiences. But, it has opened up my eyes more than ever to the environmental challenges facing us as a race. It is critical we do our utmost to influence people and organisations to adopt better ways of looking after our favourite playground and I have always wanted to be part of that change.
