Alex MacDonald
Falkirk - Scotland Rep
The anthropogenic impact on freshwater and marine environments has been something that I have been interested in from a young age. Living on the east coast of Scotland, I have spent a lot of my life surrounded by water and have witnessed how ecosystems struggle as a result of our lifestyle choices. I have recently graduated with a degree in Environmental Geography at the University of Stirling, which heightened my awareness of the increasing problem of plastic pollution devastating our water systems on a global scale.
The work that SAS has already carried out has inspired me greatly to push my local community towards a plastic free future. This has made me passionate to educate people on how they can reduce their carbon footprint, move away from the throw-away culture that our society has adopted and how our actions impact the environment around us.
I am excited to join SAS as a Regional Rep and can’t wait to see the changes that our work will achieve!
