Surfers Against Sewage is proud to be part of innovative product line-up from Advent of Change
Surfers Against Sewage are pleased to announce that we are part of a unique product line-up for Christmas 2020, alongside 47 other charities. The feel-good festive range has been revealed in partnership with John Lewis by the non-profit social enterprise, Advent of Change, which pioneered the UK’s first advent calendar with a charity behind each door.
This year, the flagship calendars are returning alongside two brand-new products aiming to help even more charities. Surfers Against Sewage are proud to join the Advent of Change movement, as part of the Children’s Charity Advent Calendar, Charity Advent Calendar & Charity Christmas Crackers.
Children’s Charity Advent Calendar
Designed to get the whole family involved, the bright and colourful Children’s Charity Advent Calendar uses child-friendly language and hand-picked charities – including Surfers Against Sewage – to help all ages understand the power of giving. This product also includes a rainbow-trail and fun mini game to add festive joy to the Christmas countdown.
Charity Advent Calendar
We’re pleased to be included in this year’s best-selling Charity Advent Calendar, which has been beautifully redesigned for 2020 with stunning artwork and all-new charity donations. Each day represents a 50p donation to one of 24 charities, ready to brighten your Christmas countdown this year.
Charity Christmas Crackers
We are proud to have been included in a brand-new product for this year and Advent of Change’s most requested product for 2020 – their set of six eco-friendly charity Christmas crackers allows people to donate while enjoying Christmas dinner. Each cracker contains one of 24 charity donations on a beautifully designed card bauble, a joke written by a renowned celebrity and, of course, a silver paper hat.
About Advent of Change
Advent of Change began with founder Kristina’s idea to reverse the consumerist nature of Christmas and bring back the giving spirit, but it quickly captured the imagination of many others.
The innovative social enterprise caught the attention of John Lewis and Partners, who will again be stocking the calendars in stores and online this year. Dan Cooper, Partner and Christmas, Gift Food & Experiences Buyer, said:
“In my role, I get to see some really interesting and exciting new products, but Advent of Change really stood out to me as an incredibly innovative way of giving back during the festive season.”
Advent of Change has also secured a number of exciting endorsements from household names such as Richard Branson, Joanna Lumley, Greg James, Lawrence Dallaglio and has even received an award from the Prime Minister for it’s outstanding contribution to charity and the community.
By the end of 2019, Advent of Change had raised £300,000 for its chosen charities, and after a particularly challenging year for the sector, its founder, 28-year- old Kristina Salceanu from Warwickshire, hopes to raise the same again this year for 48 amazing charities. She said:
“It’s been a challenging year for the charity sector which is facing losses of £10bn due to increased demand for services and lost fundraising income due to the Covid-19 pandemic. One of the main reasons I launched Advent of Change back in 2018 was to enable people to donate to multiple charities with one purchase, helping a number of different causes, and this is needed now more than ever.
We aim to create the world’s kindest products and are delighted to announce more products that will support more charities for 2020. We are extremely proud to be representing Surfers Against Sewage with our products.”
