WILDCOAST is an international conservation team with the mission to conserve coastal and marine ecosystems and wildlife. Founded in 2000, WILDCOAST and its Mexican division, COSTASALVAJE, has offices in Imperial Beach, California and Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico and full-time staff in La Paz, San Jose del Cabo and Huatulco, Mexico.
Through direct land conservation, conservation capacity building, conservation policy development and communications campaigns, WILDCOAST has protected over 3 million acres of coastal ecosystems in the United States and Mexico.
In California, WILDCOAST is working in partnership with the state government, local agencies, user groups and tribal representatives to improve the management of 17,536 acres of Marine Protected Areas in San Diego County and 12,000 acres of coastal ecosystems along the US-Mexico border.
In Mexico, we are protecting intact coastal ecosystems on the Pacific Coast, including gray whale calving lagoons, coral reefs, mangrove forests and undisturbed shoreline areas through direct land purchases, conservation easements and conservation concessions. We are working with local and federal governments to improve management of protected areas and other significant wilderness areas through land-use planning, community capacity building and visitor management on both sides of the US-Mexico border.
