About the speaker

Easkey Britton is an internationally renowned professional surfer, artist, scientist and explorer from Ireland, with a PhD in Marine Environment and Society. She is channeling her passion for surfing into social change. Her parents taught her to surf when she was four years old and her life has revolved around the ocean ever since.

She is co-founder of the non-profit Waves of Freedom which uses the power of surfing as a creative medium for social change and spear-headed the world’s first global Surf and Social Good Summit in Bali this year.

Easkey Britton keynote at Global Wave Conference An inspirational public speaker, her work and unique connection to the ocean led her to being asked to talk at TEDx Dublin 2013 about the power of the ocean to connect. She has presented her work at international conferences and published numerous book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Easkey is also a successful professional surfer – her pioneering big-wave performance at Mullaghmore on the west coast of Ireland has earned her a Global Billabong XXL nomination. It is hardly surprising that she is an Oxfam Hero ambassador and participant at THNK’s Creative Leadership program.
