Be The Change North East

It's time to announce the winners!

This October we joined forces with the Greggs Foundation and delivered, Be The Change, an Anti-Litter Education Programme and Award scheme to over 1500 pupils!

We challenged the six, North East schools to recognise that they can play a vital role in keeping their own communities litter free, healthy and happy by being the change that they want to see and creating their own ‘Anti-Litter Action Plans’.

The plans are in and the judges have been hard at work deciding who will be crowned the winners of Be The Change North East and receive the £250 grant to make their plan a reality.

Let’s reveal the winner…

In third place

Hilton Academy: “It’s called recycling” An inspirational Anti-Litter song.

The team would like to share the song on social media and play it on the local radio.

Judges comments: Awareness raising, educational and easily achievable! Fantastic knowledge of pop culture and how to spread the reach of the song. You go girls!

In Second Place ...

BRABS: An inventive solution to litter and plastic pollution.

Judges comments: We absolutely loved your innovative and engaging idea. The judging panel would love to see you develop it further and perhaps design a version that would be more achievable on a small budget.

AND THE WINNER IS!

Saltburn Learning Campus (Huntcliffe School)

Judges comments: This is a well thought through and achievable Anti-Litter Action Plan. We were very impressed with the level of investigation that went into your idea. You have identified a specific location for your idea and created an engaging, fun and usable invention. Well Done!

“The litter pollution in our school is insane, and our goal is to clear up the litter and then stop it from coming back.” Year Seven Anti-Litter Action Team

We cannot wait to work with you in the coming school year to implement your design and reduce the amount of litter in your playground.
