ACTION! Mountain Dew

We found 55 Mountain Dew bottles strewn on the beach during the Boardmasters festival this year. So we’ve posted this shot along with some strong words of wisdom on their official Facebook page (Mountain Dew UK https://www.facebook.com/MountainDewUK ).  We simply added this image and our thoughts. PLEASE, whatever you do, don’t copy this image and post on their FB page telling them what you think of Mountain Dew using our beaches as rubbish dumps, that would probably upset them!  Over 50 SAS supporters have already done this, and Iain Rex even tweaked the SAS image and made this cool version.  We have... SAS’s ‘Dirty Dozen’ Highlights The Growing Problem Of Marine Litter

To mark World Ocean Day, clean water campaigners Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) are highlighting the ‘Dirty Dozen’ of identifiable beach litter items to help tackle the blight of rubbish on UK beaches. SAS is releasing the ‘Dirty Dozen’ league table, revealing the 12 companies to which it has sent the most identifiable beach litter back to as part of the award winning Return To Offender campaign. Surfers Against Sewage Send Rubbish Christmas Presents

Today Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) campaigners have sent identifiable marine litter back to the manufacture wrapped in Christmas wrapping paper as part of the award winning Return To Offender campaign. These rubbish presents were found on beaches around the UK. The Return To Offender campaign acknowledges that these manufacturers didn't drop the litter on beaches themselves, but urges manufactures to improve their anti littering message, reduce their packaging, invest in low impact packaging and support grass roots anti-litter campaigns. SAS supporters all around the UK can actively participant in the Return To Offender campaign. Simply download the Return To Offender letter, sign... Read more

Surfers Against Sewage call on the Prime Minister to implement a National Marine Litter Strategy

Clean water campaigners from Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) believe that the UK Government urgently needs a National Marine Litter Strategy to tackle the worsening crisis of litter in our oceans and across our beaches. Co-ordinated action directed by the Prime Minister is vital in order to reduce the tide of plastic and other manmade debris washing up on the UK's shores each and every day. On the opening day of the WQS O'Neill Cold Water Classic, SAS were joined by some of the world's best surfers to call for the Prime Minister to take urgent action to increase protection levels... The Big SAS Spring Beach Clean Is A Big Success

Clean water campaigners Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) would like to thank all the volunteers for helping at The Big SAS Spring Beach Clean. Last Sunday, the 1st of March, over 80 people gave up their time to help out at The Big SAS Spring Beach Clean. As a result of all those great volunteers and their hard work, 103 bags of litter were collected and Porthtowan was visibly transformed from a beach littered with junk to a relatively clean beach. The sun shone and the beach was packed with volunteers. The atmosphere was brilliant, friends were made and everyone felt an... Read more

Join Us At The Big SAS Spring Beach Clean

This Sunday, between 11am and 2pm at Porthtowan beach (Cornwall) SAS needs your help! More specifically, Porthtowan beach needs your help as it's been neglected over the winter, just like the vast majority of beaches around the UK. It's a case of out of sight out of mind as the majority of beaches users abandoned the beach until the sun comes out. Unfortunately, even without the vast swarms of people, litter still arrives in it's droves. Marine litter is driven onshore during the winter months by storms, ocean currents and predominant winds. So there is lots to do and we need... Read more
