Peter Crane the auditor for the organisation attends Board meetings to provide financial information and to ensure that the organisation works within the rules laid down by the Companies Acts and Charities Acts.
Also represents the silver-backs, as considerably older than the Committee. However I do have a background with the sea, if not surfing.
I spent many years sailing and was a Sailing and Mountaineering Instructor at the Outward Bound School in Aberdovey, Wales. Of those years spent sailing quite a few were in an open boat sailing around the coasts of Britain and France, including an open-sea passage of more than 100 miles down the West coast of Ireland so was almost as close to the sea as a surfer. Later in life, with young children, took up kayaking and tried all forms from water polo, marathon, sea, white water and even surf-canoeing.
Our firm of Chartered Accountants, Peter Crane & Co, does specialise in looking after charities and non-profit-making organisations, so we can share this experience with Surfers Against Sewage.
By the way, the photo is by our house in a place called Herring Neck on an island off Newfoundland in Canada I cant get away from the sea!
