CALL OF THE WILD CAMPAIGN TOUR (PART 1)

CALL OF THE WILD CAMPAIGN TOUR (PART 1)SAS campaigners are back in Cornwall after a whirlwind 'Call of the Wild' Tour around the UK.

The tour focused on climate change and its potentially devastating impacts on the water we use for recreation. SAS talked about climate change creating a rise in pollution incidents from sewage overflows, the impacts on surfing from sea level rise and wider topics like ocean acidification. We urged the watersports community to get behind initiatives and current SAS campaigns that will help curb carbon dioxide emissions (responsible for climate change) and embrace offshore renewable energy technologies.

Updates were given on a range of SAS campaigns (Sewage and Sickness, Safer Shipping, Climate Chaos, No to Toxics and Marine Litter) to a very mixed range of audiences in Norwich, Saltburn, Edinburgh, The Wirral and Swansea. We were truly stoked with the level of interest and enthusiasm that was generated on each evening. Special thanks goes to Saltburn local Nick Noble for harassing and haranguing everyone to get along!

We're now planning a second leg of the tour that will visit central, southern and south eastern England in the run up to Christmas so they'll be more opportunities to find out more about SAS campaigns, what issues are most relevant to your local area and ways in which you can help SAS further.

SAS would like to thank the 'free venues' (Slug and Lettuce in Norwich, Bankside in Saltburn, The Three Sisters pub in Edinburgh, The Hilbre Court in West Kirby and The Sandbar in Swansea) who needless to say all serve great food and drinks!

We'd also like to thank Evolution who lent us a fantastic projector and screen www.evolution- development.com
