The SAS Fundraising Ball

SAS Ball fundraiser crunchtime

After ironing out some last minute hitches we’re pleased to announce that our Licence Application to hold this year’s Ball has now been granted and (subject to planning permission) the ‘RECYCLABALL’ is due to go ahead on Friday 1st September.

As explained in the last Pipeline, following the disappointing net income generated from last year’s Ball, 2006 really is a crunch year for the future viability of the event. As a result we’ve had to increase the ticket price to £45, but think you’ll agree it’s still great value for a 12 hour party with some of the country’s top bands and DJ’s, with a 5am alcohol licence and all set overlooking the beautiful Cornish coastline. In addition there is NO Booking Fee to pay, FREE parking, FREE camping, FREE local buses and FREE Recorded Delivery of your tickets.

We’ve also really freshened up the layout this year and incorporated lots of new ideas to make it THE best night out of the year! These include a larger Dance Tent with it’s own bar, a brand new Cabaret Tent (serving ‘Campaign’ Cocktails) and a new food market area outside the main tent. We’re also linking all the marquees up by tunnels to keep you warm and dry.

The theme for this year’s ‘RECYCLABALL’ was sadly inspired by the horrible mess that the Ball site was left in last year so we’d like everyone to remember, member, member the 3R’s at this year’s Ball and be inspired to Reduce, Reuse then Recycle everything from the materials you use for your costume to the rubbish that you produce during the evening.

All our ‘glasses’, plates and cutlery will be compostible and we’ll have plenty of recycling and waste bins all around the site so all we ask is that you use them and leave the area around your tent clear of any rubbish when you leave – look out for our team of Wombles on standby to supervise you (seriously!). Please remember that we have to pick up every single piece of litter by hand, down to the last sequin and cigarette butt, so why not give us a ring and get a free butt bin for your fag ends so you can dispose of them responsibly when you get home?

The Ball will run from 7pm until 7am and there is no entry after midnight. 2006 Ball - 18 is the minimum ageDue to the new licensing laws, the Ball entry age has gone up to 18. We'll be adopting the Challenge 21 Scheme which means that anyone who looks under 21 will have to prove they’re over 18 using a card with the PASS (Proof of Age Standards Scheme) logo, a photographic driving licence or a valid passport.

Members can reserve their tickets now by post, using the order form enclosed with Pipeline 64 (payment will be taken on receipt) or you can order your tickets by phone from Monday 3rd July (subject to availability).

Don’t forget, by switching your electricity supplier to Ecotricity you could save £10 off the ball ticket price as they’ll send you a voucher for discounting Ball tickets, membership or merchandise (and donate £10 to SAS!). See the ad on page 2 of Pipeline 64 or under Affinity Partners on the website for further details.
