We have been deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life and displacement of thousands of people from their homes following the Asia Tsunami Disaster.
Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) campaign for clean, safe recreational waters free from pollution in the UK and Europe and unfortunately as a consequence are not equipped to deal on the ground with disasters of this kind.
If you are interested in helping to support relief efforts in the disaster zone we would recommend you only support established non profit making organisations or charities.
One such organisation is our friends at Surf Aid International who are working hard in the Mentawai Islands to provide emergency medical teams, medical supplies and a re-fuelling tanker that allows boats providing relief in the area to refuel more effectively. It is estimated that up to 10,000 people in the SurfAid operating region of Nias have been displaced by the Tsunami disaster. You can support their efforts and make donations by clicking here:

Closer to home the Shelterbox organisation has been sending relief boxes to the disaster region. These include tents, water purification tablets, water carriers, multi-fuel cooker and cooking utensils. They are also looking for experienced disaster relief volunteers to support their efforts on the ground in the region. You can support their efforts by clicking here:

If you want to make other donations to international agencies working directly on this relief effort then you should contact the DEC (Disaster Secretariat on Tel: 0207 3870200 or www.dec.org.uk
