PLYMOUTH - 13th-14th May 2002
The Tourbus is a 10 day mission across the UK celebrating all that is special about our coast. 20 million people use the coastline of the UK every year and in many areas tourism and leisure play a key role in the economy and well being of local communities. At each venue the surfers will be holding press calls, expression sessions, and surf lessons. There will also be educational talks at local schools and universities on pollution awareness and beach safety, including how to stay safe in the sun and water - courtesy of our Co-sponsors NIVEA Sun. This years tour will also be incorporating a Tag Team style surf contest where local surfers will have the opportunity to surf with some of the pro's on the bus. James Hendy of SAS said today - "Raising awareness is an essential part of the SAS campaign, without awareness of a problem you can't go any distance in terms of finding a solution. Giving presentations at Kingsbridge Community College and Plymouth University not only gives us a chance to spread the word about what SAS do and why, it also means we get the opportunity to encourage people to make a difference themselves" Press opportunities available at most destinations please call to arrange details. - Daily schedules attached
