It's
that time of year again folks, when the Langland Boardriders host
the annual Surfers Against Sewage Toxic Trophy surfing competition
2002. Last year the surf contest was cancelled due to lack of
swell although the evening fundraiser event raised over 400 pounds
for SAS who work very hard to keep our oceans and it's surrounding
environments clean.
The
event is scheduled to take place on the 15th of November at Langland
bay S. Wales, no phone in and heats start 9.00 o'clock sharp.
The categories are open mens, open ladies, under 18 and under
16. Beach entries will only be accepted if there are spaces available.
This contest is open to everyone worldwide but will also be a
Welsh ranking event to help with future team selections. There
will be loads of prizes for the finalists and entry forms will
be available from local surf shops, or on the WSF website www.welshsurfingfederation.co.uk.
As
you know last years surf contest was cancelled, so fingers crossed
for swell this time. We did however have a night do
.I'm
sure many of you may remember, St Agnes band Real YT came up from
Cornwall and gave us a rocking not to be forgotten. Well I'm pleased
to say that we were able to drag them away from their grueling
schedule to come up and support SAS again. This time the night
do will take place at a different venue, it will be at the Mumbles
motorboat & fishing club on the 15th Nov from around 8.00
o'clock. A bargain entry fee of only 3.00 quid and all funds go
to SAS, this will enable you to enjoy great prizes from the raffle,
latest surf films, a DJ clash from the Aggy Allstars which is
a set of Phat tunes from Reggae to Hip Hop, Punk Rock and pure
poetry in motion before Real YT take to the stage to blow you
away!!
So
if your at a loose end on that weekend don't dismay, come to Langland
Bay
S. Wales and witness or take part in some of the finest surfing
in the U.K. If your just looking for something different to do
on Saturday night, come to Mumbles and show your support for SAS,
this evening won't let you down. Although do come early to avoid
disappointment, last year's venue was a full house.
