The Event

Aloha is stepping up it's UK sponsorship programme and is delighted to be part of the UK grass roots surfing movement by joining forces with Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) for the second year running to deliver the 2006 Cornish Open - the longest running and greenest surf contest in the UK.

The SAS run contest is the longest running and the greenest surf contest in Europe and this year will take place at Porthtowan Beach, Cornwall from the 11th -13th August.

Aloha UK General Manager Emma Hartley said: "Being Title sponsors of the 2005 Cornish and Open event demonstrated to us the benefits of uniting with such a great organisation as SAS and therefore the decision to offer our brand as Title sponsors for 2006 was made easy. The SAS/Aloha Cornish and Open 2005 was successful in combining environmental issues with the great world of Aloha surfing worldwide. Last years competitors were of a very high standard across all ages and genders. Our aim for 2006 is to continue raising the standards along with encouraging new comers to the surf scene to participate both as spectators and competitors. In particular we hope school parties will visit the site to discover more about the close links between surfing and the environment".

Richard Hardy, SAS Campaigns Director said: "We're delighted to have Aloha's support once again for what is the most environmentally friendly surf contest on the UK surf circuit. Last years event was a real crowd pleaser but we'll be looking to top that in 2006 by bringing in some new environmentally friendly initiatives to run alongside all the surfing action. The contest is a big favourite for both the UK's top surfers and some international travellers and we hope this year will see it blessed with clean, green waves".
