Aloha and Surfers Against Sewage present the Cornish and Open 2005

The Event

SAS members campaigningAloha's support for the local and grass roots surfing contests in Australia has seen co-sponsorship of the 2005 Jim Beam National Tag Tournament and the ever growing Aloha Hornet contest that has become a must do event for any aspiring grommet on the junior pro series. Aloha is stepping up it's UK sponsorship programme and is delighted to be part of the UK grass roots surfing movement by joining forces with Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) to deliver the 2005 Cornish Open - the longest running and greenest surf contest in the UK.

Aloha Surf International Managing Director and ex-Cornish resident - Greg McCarry said :

"It's great to be involved with this event, it has such history and has seen so many UK and international stars compete at various tomes. It is equally exciting to be involved with the SAS, who have championed the very successful 'clean beach and water campaign' over the past 15 years and which has been incredibly beneficial to all UK surfers."

Richard Hardy, SAS Campaign Director said:

"We're delighted to have Aloha's support for what is the most environmentally friendly surf contest on the UK surf circuit. The contest is a big favourite for the UK's top surfers and we hope this year will see it blessed with clean, green waves."

With Aloha Europe's base being part of the Cornish landscape (the original site of the SAS HQ) this event is a comfortable fit, both culturally and geographically - along with committed expectations, Aloha views this sponsorship as the beginning of a long term involvement. Equally, Aloha is pleased to support and be involved with the eco principles of the SAS and looks forward to the 2005 Cornish and Open being the greenest event ever with posters being printed on 100% recycled paper, contest tees made from pure organic cotton, and the use of hemp surfboards being incorporated into the contest.
