The 2004 SAS Ball
another superb night

One of the best SAS balls yet....

Friday 3rd September saw SAS members being treated to some of the best rock, funk and dance that the UK has to offer. Bands including Razorlight, Freestylers and Absolute Earth Wind & Fire made this ball one of the best ever.

SAS Ball 2004Richard Hardy, Campaigns Director SAS, says This was a very special ball for everyone at SAS as all partygoers here were members of SAS. The ball is our chance to thank our members for helping us campaign for clean water for everyone. SAS are just stoked at how the night went and the atmosphere created by everyone who was involved!!!

Thanks!!!”

Razorlight rocked with a couple of THE songs of the summer ‘Golden Touch’ and ‘Vice’ as well as some other greats from their album ‘Up All Night’. The rock was backed up by the amazing 22-20's who were fantastic - a band destined for the big time! Along with this, the crowd was treated to DJ Gary Stringer (former front man of Reef) bashing out some exceptional rock anthems.

SAS Ball 2004The Funk came soon after with all the classic disco favorites being performed by the absolutely amazing Absolute Earth Wind and Fire. With over 12 musicians on stage and some great music being produced, everyone hit the dance floor and got their groove on!

The dance came from DJ Adam Freeland and the utterly fantastic Freestylers!! The Freestylers whipped the crowd into a frenzy and just when everyone thought that was as SAS Ball 2004good as it got, they would up the tempo. The Freestylers were blown away with the crowd, coming back for encore after encore, leaving everyone buzzing.

Music from Iain Archer, DJ Nick Green / Seed and Andy Howard made for one of the strongest lineups for an SAS Ball EVER!!

SAS Ball 2004All of that was packed into the main tent but the dance tent also banged out great music from 11pm to 4am with DJs Lee Derrick, Darrel Roberts, Luke Glenhill and Fat Boy Tim, ensuring the dance floor was packed all night with an alternative to the main tent.

SAS Ball 2004The Kaos Design team transformed what has to be the biggest wedding marquee in the UK , into a world with 3 different zones, Earth, Wind and Fire. There were some amazing sets and backdrops with a huge phoenix coming out of a raging fire about the stage.

Partygoers were treated to stiltwalkers, jugglers and entertainers in all manner of forms flitting about, both captivating and thrilling. Tom and Naomi from AV3 media ensured SAS’s environmental messages were put across with some stylish visual effects. St Johns Ambulance were on site providing first aid cover - a big thanks to them.

SAS Ball 2004SAS were happy to hear that there were only a few minor incidents. We would like to thank everyone who came to the ball, especially those who helped with the clean up and recycling, it was very successful, but only because of everyone’s help!!

Thanks a million to everyone at SW1 and everyone involved in the production and crew. They worked relentlessly to ensure that this was one of the best balls for everyone involved.

SAS Ball 2004Special thanks to Mark and Sharon Doble for letting SAS use their land and Happy Birthday to Mark!!! SAS are a non profit making environmental campaign organisation, every penny raised from the ball will be used to fund the ongoing work of Surfers Against Sewage!! For further details contact us.
