Join SAS for another Paddle Round The Pier in Brighton on Saturday 11th
June! This year's Paddle round the Palace Pier is crucially timed as
planning proposals for Brighton and Hove's sewage treatment system are
decided. At present only secondary level sewage treatment is to be provided
but SAS believe the only solution lies in full sewage treatment and by that
we mean UV disinfection to keep the water clean and safe.
As ever the Paddle's a fun event for all the family. This year's Paddle
starts at 10:30am - but you need to register first by bringing along your
collected sponsor form between 9am and 10am to the SAS registration tent by
the Palace Pier. You'll have needed to raise at least £20 in sponsorship and
have with you a cheque or cash equivalent to the amount you have raised in
sponsorship.
Other things to remember you'll need to be at least 16 years of age and
paddle fit - that is able to swim at least 200 yards in the open sea.
You can download a sponsor form here or pick one up in Brighton watersports
shops.
Remember every day more than 80 Olympic swimming pools worth of untreated
sewage are pumped out to sea from Brighton. Join the paddle and help SAS to
consign that to the history books!
